Questions & Answers
Yes, please bring your own guitar to class. Both electric or acoustic guitars are permitted. However, if you bring an electric guitar, you should bring your own amplifier as well.
Most materials will be provided for you. However, it would be a good idea to bring your own guitar picks, a pencil, and a folder for the sheet music you’ll be receiving in class. If you’d like to take notes, feel free to bring a notebook, as well.
You do not need any experience to take part in the class. Guitar players of all levels are welcome! There will be plenty to learn no matter how long you’ve been playing.
No, you do not know how to read music to participate in the Guitar Bootcamp. A basic knowledge of how music is written is always helpful, but it is not necessary. We will be reviewing the fundamentals of how music is written for the guitar during our first class.
Since we expect students of various playing abilities, each class will be structured to maximize individual attention. First, we will go over some basic concepts as a group and then each student will practice individually or in small groups. During this time, the instructor will work with each student on his or her individual technique.
It is recommended that you attend all three sessions. However, if for some reason you have to miss a class, the instructor will make every effort to help you catch up and review any work you may have missed during the next class meeting.
