WORKSHOPS
South Asian Cultural Exchange (both time slots)
The South Asian Cultural Exchange, SACE, provides an opportunity for the South Asian community and everyone at Molloy College to come together and celebrate the diversity of South Asian culture while exploring the modern South Asian society through events, activities, and celebration of cultural traditions throughout campus! European Academic and Cultural Experiences Since 2013 (both time slots)
Since 2013, Molloy students have participated in Euroweek (European Week Business Conference and Competition), which brings together students from different universities across Europe and Latin America. The purpose is to nurture students' knowledge across a variety disciplines. The Euroweek experience is unique because you collaborate with students from other countries to work on a research project during the spring semester, and then meet with your teams to present your research findings during the week of the conference. Workshop presenters will discuss their experiences participating in this international initiative, and will include students that have already participated in the conference, and students planning to attend at the end of April, 2019.
One Song, Four Languages: Different Ways of Seeing the World (both time slots)Music is a global language that shows our cultural differences. At the same time, cultures are very interactive. Observing the wonderful relationship between the four official languages of Spain through the use of the music, we will discover the special characteristics associated with the people living in these regions of this country
Salsa Dancing for Beginners (TIME SLOT 2 ONLY)Salsa is one of the most popular Caribbean music genres in the world. This vibrant and exciting rhythm invites everybody to hop out of their seats and onto the dance floor to have a great time. In this session, participants will explore the origins and influence of Salsa in Latin American culture and learn how to dance it. Come to learn, dance, and enjoy the music with us!
Put On Your Culture Comms! (both time slots) Did you ever stop to think that you are not connecting with your teacher, your friend or your boss because he or she doesn’t share the same culture as you? In this session we will discover some culturally sensitive ways to communicate with another person without a common cultural background. We will learn about cultural nuances and get interesting cultural perspectives from a communication standpoint, so that you can make your cultural differences a strength and not a barrier.
